Lynden Rodeo Queen
Hilary Zender of Bellingham was crowned the first Miss Lynden Rodeo Queen at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds in Lynden on January 24, 2009. The pageant included a horsemanship competition, in which participants demonstrated their riding skills in front of a panel of judges. "This is a privilege," Zender said. "Rodeo is definitely a passion of mine." Organizers of the Lynden Rodeo hope to make the pageant an annual event.
Leo Marquez
Leo Marquez, one of the owners Created To Worship, hugs Matthew Joyner, 6, in front of a variety of the guitars for sale at the store on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Marquez builds, refurbishes and sells guitars at the store, using all of the proceeds to benefit the Church on The Street's ministry to the homeless. Marquez also teaches lessons and is currently tutoring Joyner to play the guitar.
